V Romans 1:16† For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
We can easily overlook the importance of not being ashamed of Jesus, as we carry on our every day existence.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is much more than a convincing argument, for better moral living. The Gospel is Godís power to bring salvation, meaning to bring deliverance, healing, freedom.
Going to church does not qualify as being unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Peter affirmed to Jesus that although others would leave Him, that Peter himself would not. (Matthew 26:31-35)
What can we learn from this? That fear is a powerful deterrent to speaking the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So much so that the Lord had to send the Holy Ghost to bring a supernatural boldness and authority to enable His disciples to stand.
V Mark 8:38† Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
V 2 Timothy 1:8-12 (read) Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of GodÖ
V 1 Peter 4:16† Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
V 1 Thessalonians 2:4† But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
