LESSON 9

SCRIPTURES ON FORGIVENESS AND MERCY - continued

1 John 2:1          SIN NOT ‑ but if any man sin, we have an advocate with the FATHER.

Note:                It is important that we do not judge one another, knowing that through repentance, Jesus Christ himself is become their advocate, their defense attorney. In judging one another we put a stumbling block before our brother or our sister.

Matt 18:1-10      In these verses Jesus illustrates this. Offense is a word that comes from the Greek word “skandalon”, the English word “scandal”, and means offenses.

To enter the Kingdom of Heaven we must be as little children. It is to be without envy, without contention, without an ambition of being greater than one another, that is what is referred to here. It is the humility the desire to learn, to love and be loved.
