LESSON 14

SCRIPTURES ON FORGIVENESS AND MERCY - continued

John 1:17  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

The following portion of Scripture illustrates the ministry of Jesus Christ.  Jesus is revealed here as the mediator between man and God.  We can also see here by the actions of the Scribes and Pharisees that all are guilty under the law, as they were all convicted in their conscience.

        John 8:2-11 Read

Discuss how forgiveness and mercy are illustrated in this Scripture.

It is so easy for us to look on another and judge them, forgetting our own sinful past, or the mercy that we have received from Christ.

Note: it is in the presence of Christ, and through the Word that we experience conviction.

How wonderful it must've been that day when the woman experience the wonderful grace of Christ.  She was given life for death.

John 3:17-18  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Throughout history many have speculated what Jesus wrote on the ground.  What do you think Jesus wrote on the ground when he stooped down those two times?
