North Shore Christian Centre - Home Bible Study notes
1. A home in heaven is prepared for the family of God, there are no mansions for strangers, or acquaintances. Another illustration of the importance of knowing our place in Christ, the relationship of a Father and His children.
John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
2. Heaven is filled with those who have served the Father (profitable servants) Romans 12:1,2. The future inhabitants of Heaven will come from all over the earth, and from every generation.
Matthew 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. (Family reunion)
Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
3. Heaven is filled with the treasures gained by the church through faith. There will be degrees of wealth revealed in heaven. (parable of the talents Matthew 25:14)
Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Malachi 3:16-17 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
