Treasures in Heaven

Godís goodness and love toward his children is so great, as though the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ could not be the extent of our reward, He has provided treasure for His children in Heaven.

We will first look at the scriptures and compare earthly treasure with Heavenly treasure.

Treasure on earth

Treasure on Earth cannot save the soul

  Luke 12:16-21

  Luke 16:25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

  Revelation 3:17Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

  Proverbs 11:4Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Treasures that cannot endure will bring sorrow to the heart; we must not give the heart to earthly treasure.

Serving Christ above Earthly Treasures

  Matthew 6:24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  Hebrews 11:26Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward

  1 Timothy 6:17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

  Haggai 1:5-11

  Psalms 62:10Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

Seeking Earthly treasures can rob us of Spiritual life

  Mark 4:19And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

  1 Timothy 6:9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
