LESSON 8

THE BUILDING OF THE ARK cont.d

THE KEEL OR FOUNDATION (AS JESUS)

1)      The keel or foundation is the most important member of the Ark of the Church!

Eph 4:16 "From whom (keel or Jesus) the whole body, fitly joined (framed) together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body (or Ark) unto the edifying of itself in love ." (joined together)

Eph 2:21 "...All the building (or Ark) fitly joined together."

Comment I hope the above scriptures, will inspire us as we compare the building of the Ark and the building of the Church!

2)      The keel is made from the most selected wood for the foundation. As Jesus is the most selected of all of us for the foundation.

3)      If the keel of the Ark is not laid properly (according to pattern), it will be distorted, and the members fastened to it will be distorted! As with the Church, if it is not laid on the true foundation, our Lord Jesus Christ and according to the pattern He has given us, it will be distorted!

1 Cor 3:10‑15 Paul the Apostle speaks of the true foundation.

Eph 2:20‑22 OUR TRUE FOUNDATION!

"We are built upon the foundation of the APOSTLES and PROPHETS, JESUS CHRIST himself being the CHIEF CORNER STONE." (The Author and Finisher of our Faith. In these writings we find our example to follow in building the Church.)

Mt 16:13‑18 The Rock, a lasting foundation.

Comment The keel or foundation alone, is only the beginning of the Ark. As Jesus alone, is only the beginning of the Church!

Those who speak of the Foundation - Cornerstone

Apostles - I Peter 2:6-8;

Jesus Christ - Matthew 21:42;

Prophets - Isaiah 28:16; Other ref. Psalm 118:22-23; Genesis 49:24; Acts 4:11-12;

The foundation of New Jerusalem - Revelation 21:14

Summary For all that we believe, the hope of salvation, spiritual life, resurrection from the dead there is one foundation upon which we can stand Jesus Christ.
