GOD THE FATHER

LESSON 6

INTRODUCTION

The study we are about to undertake regarding the Heavens, and how God reveals Himself in His creation, is very important to all Christians because:

1)      God’s Throne is in the Heavens

2)      The Lamb (Jesus) is sitting on His Right Hand

3)      Jesus has the Lamb’s Book of Life, writing all the names of those on earth that have accepted Him as their Saviour.

4)      When we pass from this life, we shall go there (if we are saved).

5)      All the Saints that have gone before us are there, under the Alter of God, crying, “How long Lord?”  For they are not made perfect without us!

MANY CHRISTIANS ASK THIS QUESTION

“Is the Old Testament important in my Christian Walk?”

                        Example: Journey of Israel.

1 Cor 10:11     “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: (types) and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come!”

WITHOUT THE OLD TESTAMENT WE HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING

Luke 24:44      Jesus said, “…All these things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me.”

Luke 24:45      “Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures!”

Comment        We can readily see by Luke 24:44-45, that the Old Testament is very important, if we are to have full understanding of the Scriptures!

TEACHERS WITH BALANCE

Matt 13:52       “…Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.”

i.e.:      New Testament and Old Testament!

Comment        When Jesus came to the Jews, the term ‘Scriptures’ meant- the Old Testament, for it was the only Bible they had.

Jesus said to them, “Search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me” (John 5:39). The Bible the Jews held very dearly, revealed Jesus and His first coming by the words of the Holy Prophets.  Therefore, the New Testament came out of the Old Testament.  We bring forth the Old because of the New.
