GOD THE FATHER

Lesson 21

JESUS SPEAKS OF THE EAGLE IN THE RESURRECTION

Lu 17:34‑37     Key Verse: "Wheresoever the body is, thither will the Eagles be gathered together!"

Comment        God has shown His characteristics in the Eagle.  It is not a vulture and hates dead flesh.  Cares for its young and beareth them on her wings.  It is the king of birds!

EAGLES' WINGS – The Lord’s care for His people

Ex 19:4‑6         If you will obey My voice ‑ Ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me.

Ex 19:4            Key Verse: “Ye have seen, …how I bare you on Eagles' wings, and brought you unto Myself.”

Comment        As God our Father used the phrase or description ‘Eagles’ wings: to bring the children of Israel unto Himself.  And now, as God prepares again, through Jesus to bring all believers unto Himself, Jesus said, "Wheresoever the body is, thither will the Eagles be gathered together.” (Luke 17:37)  To bear us on Eagles' wings to the Father.

OTHER SCRIPTURES ON WINGS AS WINGS OF GOD

Ps  17:8           David ‑ "…Hide me under the shadow of thy wings".

Ps 57:1            "…In the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge..."

Ps 91:1-4        "…Under His wings shalt thou trust..."

Ps 104:3          "…Who walketh upon the wings of the wind."

Ezek 10:5        The cherubims had wings

Mal 4:2             "The Sun of Righteousness ‑ …Arise with healing in His wings."

Matt 23:37       "…How often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen, gathereth her chickens under her wings..."

Comment:       Again we can see the power of Psalm 19, “day unto day uttereth speech”. All of creation is able to witness the beauty of the Lord, and the compassion of the Lord, and the power of the Lord, through his creation.

Summary:       Put yourself in King David’s shoes for a moment, his struggles, his enemies, etc. What do you see in these scriptures, e.g. hope…
