Studying the Word of God

Lesson 8

How a Believer must study the Word – Speaking the Word continued

Without a vessel to speak His Word the Lord is powerless to save. It is more than hearing the words of the thoughts of a man’s heart. The Word of God is a seed. (Luke 8:11) The seed is not the sum of the Word, it is only the beginning of a living thing. Once planted in good ground it can come alive and bring forth abundantly.

The Word of faith in thy mouth

V     Romans 10:8-10  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;(The meaning of the word “preach” here is to; herald, as a public crier) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession(this word is also interpreted as profession) is made unto salvation.

What happens when we read the word out loud?

V     Luke 1:39-56

Mary and Elizabeth have received and submitted to the Word of the Lord regarding their offspring meet together. At hearing the greeting the babe leaps in Elizabeth’s womb, She is filled with the Holy Ghost and begins to prophesy, Mary hearing the prophecy of Elizabeth filled with joy and thanksgiving begins to prophetically pray and give thanks to the Lord. Hallelujah!

It is the voice of the Lord through a yielded vessel that inspires, quickens the Spirit in us.

We speak the Word of the Lord not as a narration, but the source of our salvation and hope.

Healing, deliverance, prophecy – spoken word

If we look at the case of the lame man at the temple gate, found in Acts 3:1-9.  The Word of the Lord had a specific mission and purpose this particular day. It was not the prayers of the faithful at the temple or the proximity to this Holy Ghost gathering that transformed this man’s life. The Word in season spoken through the mouth of the servant of God could not return void.

V     Isaiah 55:10-11   10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:  11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Authority and the spoken Word

V     Matthew 8:8   8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
