Lesson 9

How a Believer must study the Word – Speaking the Word continued

God Speaks to Mankind through a vessel

V     Hebrews 1:1-2   1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,  2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

The Lord speaks to Ezekiel and in turn He is to speak to Israel

V     Ezekiel 3:10-11  Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

Note: that the Lord told Ezekiel not only to hear with his ears but to receive in his heart

God Speaks to us by the Holy Ghost

V     John 16:12-13   12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.  13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

V     Isaiah 28:11   11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

V     1 Corinthians 14:21   21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

The Baptism of the Holy Ghost…as the Spirit gave them utterance.

V     Acts 2:4   4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

In the face of adversity the early Church prays for more boldness

V     Acts 4:29   29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

Paul’s prayer for Boldness

V     Ephesians 6:19-20   19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,  20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Don’t be dismayed at their faces

V     Jeremiah 1:17  Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

Boldness in the Lord is our greatest testimony that He is with us.
